José González, all for acoustic intimate and friendly melodies

A very welcome return: the singer-songwriter from Gothenburg, Sweden, son of Argentine exiles, is expected for his only Italian date on 12 July at the Teatro Romano in Fiesole. A splendid location. Ideal for being enveloped by the soft tones of his voice and the plucked notes of his guitar.

By Luca Testoni

Almost two decades have passed since José González began his musical career. A career that started immediately with a bang. Remember the worldwide success of the delicate and mournful hit “Heartbeats”, with the help of a very successful commercial?

The poker of albums under his name has always followed a very precise line. Short, melodic and rhythmic songs, always very personal, daughters of a distinct passion for classic folk songwriting. Although with the passing of time, influences from Latin America and Africa have not been absent.

With “Local Valley”, his latest record, he wanted to stay true to his understated pop songwriting, mixing Spanish, English and Swedish for the occasion. However, the music has a curious characteristic: it sounds friendly. More than that, it seems to tend towards inner peace.
