Pacifico

Bio

Luigi De Crescenzo aka Pacifico was born in Milan in 1964. Among the most esteemed songwriter and author in the Italian scene, Pacifico released six records: Pacifico (2001), Musica Leggera (2004), Dal giardino tropicale (2006), Dentro ogni casa (2009), Una voce non basta (2012), Bastasse Il Cielo (2019), and the EP ElectroPo (2019). He won the Tenco Award for his first endeavour and numerous other recognitions, he participated to the Sanremo Festival as a performer in 2004 with the song “Solo un sogno”, winning an award for best music and duetted with some of the greatest national and international artists (Ivano Fossati, Malika Ayane, Marisa Monte, Ana Moura).

In April of 2015 he wrote and performed, alongside Samuele Bersani, the song “Le storie che non conosci”, with the participation of the extraordinary Francesco Guccini. The track was awarded the Targa Tenco 2015 for Best song of the year.

He also wrote for the cinema (from Gabriele Muccino to Roberta Torre) and wrote and brought on stage the theatrical monologue Boxe a Milano. He published for Baldini e Catoldi, the novel Ti ho dato un bacio mentre dormivi. As an author, he collaborated with the most important Italian artists. Besides the decennial partnership with Gianna Nannini (starting from “Sei nell’anima”, coming to the latest album Amore Gigante), he wrote for Andrea Bocelli (“Bellissime stelle), Gianni Morandi (“Stringimi le mani”, “Bisogna vivere”), Adriano Celentano (“Ti penso e cambia il mondo”,”I passi che facciamo”), Malika Ayane (“Adesso e qui”, “Senza fare sul serio”,”Ricomincio da qui”), Eros Ramazzotti (“Tra vent’anni”), Zucchero (“Oltre le rive”), Giorgia (“Sempre si cambia”), Antonello Venditti (“Ti ricordi il cielo”), and many more.

Pacifico frequently participated in the Sanremo Festival both as an interpreter and as an author. He participated, besides the 2004 edition, also in 2008 in a duet with Ornella Vanoni and Tony Bungaro with the song “Imparare ad amarsi”, of which he was also the author of the lyrics. He was present at the Festival’s 2020 edition as an author with the songs “Il segreto del tempo” (wrote for the duo Roby Facchinetti and Riccardo Fogli), and “Il coraggio di ogni giorno (wrote for Enzo Avitabile and Peppe Servillo).

In 2019 he published Bastasse il Cielo and the EP ElectroPo with Ponderosa Music & Art, whilst in 2020 he dedicated himself to another project, A Occhi Aperti: Pacifico a Fumetti. It was a summary of music, literature, and art in which the songwriter’s genius is intertwined with the one of comic book illustrator Franco Matticchio that described through images the great artist’s songs. The elegant and artistically rich result of this union was also published in the historic comic magazine Linus, together with original words written by Pacifico accompanying Matticchio’s drawings.

He was back at the Sanremo festival in 2021 as the author of the hors concours song “Un sorriso dentro il piano” performed by Ornella Vanoni, and as the co-author, together with Mirco Mariano and Elisabetta Sgarbi, of Malika Ayane’s song “Ti piaci così” and “Bianca luce nera” performed by Extraliscio and davide Toffolo from Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti.
