Kruder & Dorfmeister

Bio

Kruder & Dorfmeister is an electronic duo composed of Austrian producers Peter Kruder, born in 1967,and Richard Dorfmeister, born in 1968. Considered the godfathers of an entire music genre, Downtempo, they became one of the most important names of the electronic and dance scenes.

They established themselves on the music panorama when, after having founded their label G-Stone Recordings, they published their debut EP, G-Stoned, in 1993. The album included classics like “In Deep Shit” and “High Noon” and was considered a pioneering cornerstone: a captivating and original mix of dub, soul, and rap.

The EP was followed by the release of DJ-Kicks: Kruder & Dorfmeister in 1996 and The K&D Sessions in 1998, which projected them in a new context invoking a sort of temporal suspension that went beyond music. The two soon started to receive remix requests by artists of the caliber of Depeche Mode and Madonna, making them reach international fame.

Kruder & Dorfmeister kept releasing remix albums and collaborating with the most famous names of the music panorama and in 2016, on the occasion of the sixteenth anniversary of the founding of G-Stone Recordings, they published the compilation Sixteen F**kin Years of G-Stone Recordings, it was the start of the K&D Sessions Live project. It was a special four-hour DJ set so successful that the Austrian duo decided to embark on an international tour. 2020 saw the release of the first album of originals since 1998 titled 1995. The tracks composing this new artist effort came from K&D’s private archive and mixed jazz with folk vocals, sampling with electronic files, with everything surrounded by a relaxed and downtempo rhythm.
