Alan Clark

Backstory

You could call Alan Clark a unicorn in the world of rock: firstly, because he is a classical pianist who dared to play a classic piano on rock and roll stages, then because he has played with many artists who have made the history of rock and roll: from Dire Straits, which he joined in 1980, to Eric Clapton, Tina Turner, Bob Dylan, the Bee Gees, and Rod Stewart.

In this record, titled Backstory and published for Ponderosa Music & ArtAlan retraces the tracks of the past forty years, the biggest hits he played, in new arrangements for solo piano, including “Private Dancer” which was made famous by Tina Turner but was written by Clark and Dire Straits.

Simple, regal, moving.
