Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio

Bio

Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, also known as DLO3, is a fast-growing band that blends soul, jazz, and rhythm & blues. Their groove, together with their lush and lively sounds, is always fresh and supported by improvisations and their undeniable chemistry.

The Trio was created in Seattle in 2015, from the match between Delvon Lamarr (B-3 organ), Colin Higgins (guitar), then replaced by Jimmy James, and Dave McGraw (drums), all part of Seattle’s music scene. Lamarr was initially a trumpeter and a drummer, but at the age of 22, he approached the study of the organ after the encounter with the famous jazz organist Joe Doria. James and McGraw, on the other hand, had already founded a band: The True Loves.

In 2016 the DLO3 published their first album: Close But No Cigar. The record was a perfect example of the group’s string chemistry and was a mix of tradition and innovation. Even if the Trio was always associated with the more general jazz genre, the DLO3 actually mixed R & B, rock, soul, and blues in a piece of music that is made of improvisation and synergy. Close But No Cigarsreceived major appreciations from the critics and was published again in 2018when it reached the first position in the U.S. Contemporary Jazz Album Chart and the third position in the U.S. Jazz Albums Chart.

The DLO3 then started an international tour, participated in numerous international festivals, and ended up publishing their live album Live at KEXP!, recorded in May 2017. The record reached the tenth position in the U.S. Jazz Album Chart and granted the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio the possibility to start a new international promotional tour.

In January 2021, DLO3 published its third and latest album: I Told You So. The record immediately reached the first position in Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Album Chart and the fourth in Billboard’s Jazz Album Chart. The Glide Magazine defines the album as follows: « The relentless and inebriating groove of Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio is precisely what you would expect from an organ trio – a hint of late 60’s soul-jazz, some more modern funk elements, and a gripping, magnetic swagger that you won’t let go».
