The Swedish singer-songwriter of Argentine origins is making a stop at Alcatraz in Milan next November 17 for his only Italian date on his world tour. It’s a tour closely tied to his latest (fifth) album, “Against The Dying Of The Light”, literally a stance against the eclipse of light.

In this work, he spans from the personal to the collective, moving from intimate pop-folk to songs designed to reflect on the major issues facing contemporary humanity, taking a stand, for instance, against the threats of the climate crisis affecting our planet, as well as the invasiveness of technology. Over the top? Reading the warnings from many american Big Tech insiders, the drift of AI doesn’t bode well. In short, a modern-day minstrel (slung with his inseparable acoustic guitar) who knows how to deliver real substance while staying pleasantly accessible.

“My album can simply be enjoyed for its sound, harmonies, and rhythms, but more than ever, my lyrics, written in English, Swedish, and Spanish, aim to inspire people to get involved and take action, working together to solve collective problems. In the name of humanism and Enlightenment values, and against the ‘dying of the light.'”

The best part is that González is “aging” incredibly well. Much like those kings of european acoustic songwriting, norway’s Kings of Convenience, who only seem to get better and more enjoyable as time goes on. Just like the duo from Bergen, the swede hasn’t just survived the 2000s, he’s thriving in the age of relentless music streaming.
