Antonio Castrignanò

Aria Caddhipulina

Aria Caddhipulina was released in June 2018 and it is a journey through Salento and the South of Italy described by Antonio Castrignanò with six tracks and distributed by Ponderosa Music & Art.

The singer recorded for the first time one of his most symbolic songs, “Aria Caddhipulina” which is presented in two different versions: the first one is the record’s opening track which is arranged according to the traditional folk genre, the second version is the record’s closing track and is described by Castrignanò as a «modern pizzica tarantata».

Between these two songs, there are four tracks that retrace the popular tradition moving through every culture living within Southern Italy: besides “Sciusciumaniellu” and “La caddhina”, on the album, we can find an original version of “Vitti ‘na crozza” a famous Sicilian song with the lyrics in the Salentinian dialect, and “Rodianella”, a tarantella paying homage to the Gargano’s poetic music tradition.
