JAZZMI 2021 continues with the show \u201cThe Body of Jazz\u201d, and in its numbers and success we can already see a fantastic return to normality.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

There could be no better way to restart. After its 2020 edition was \u201cnipped in the bud\u201d by the introduction of a so-called \u201cred zone\u201d in the Lombardy region, JAZZMI 2021 took place this year as normal. And the 30 thousand attendees through 11 days of live performances and over 210 events (80 of which were free) held in 60 different locations allow us to call it a success. An expected success, of course, but not quite predictable in this day and age.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00abJAZZMI 2021 was reborn this year, and the audiences\u2019 participation was very reassuring. The desire to reclaim emotions and the joy of partaking in live performances has once again involved tens of thousands of people through all the events of our great festival, which has been more wide-ranging than ever before. Yes, without fear of being contradicted I can say that our live music brough relief and serenity, and helped people conquer their fears\u00bb. Luciano Linzi, the festival\u2019s artistic director alongside Titti Santini, cannot hide his satisfaction as he draws a balance of the sixth edition of the festival organized by Associazione JAZZMI, Ponderosa Music & Art and Triennale Teatro Milano in synergy with Blue Note Milano, and realized thanks to the Municipality\u2019s Culture Department, with contributions from the Ministry of Culture and the support of Fondazione di Comunit\u00e0 Milano Onlus, not to mention the help of prestigious sponsors such as Intesa Sanpaolo and Volvo.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00abI have too many great memories of JAZZMI 2021 to recall them all\u00bb, Linzi continues. \u00abI could mention the hypnotic, magnetic atmospheres of Paolo Angeli as well as the seductive dance of Vincent Peirani & Emil Parisien; the new soul of Jos\u00e9 James and the pure energy of Moses Boyd, the virtuosity and intensity of Fabrizio Bosso and Stefano Di Battista and the atmospheric \u201csound landscapes\u201d of Marcin Wasilewski and Joe Lovano, and last but not least the earth-shattering hip-hop happiness explosion of the final evening spearheaded by Grandmaster Flash\u00bb.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And we can\u2019t fail to mention the dozens of sold-out shows, including those of Vinicio Capossela and Camille Bertault, as well as the excellent success of other initiatives, such as the shows devoted to the new Italian jazz scene at Milan\u2019s Teatro Filodrammatici or the events held in surrounding towns such as Carugate, Trezzano sul Naviglio and San Donato Milanese. JAZZMI 2021 had the merit of bringing back into active service more than a hundred live show business professionals who had suffered greatly from the effects of the pandemic. Not to mention the reopening of so many (too many!) venues and clubs that offer music every day and that were forced to keep their doors shut for so long. Without their support, the over 400 performers of the festival would have had no power and no stage.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Is that all, then? Not exactly. Until December 2nd, Armani\/Silos will host five more dates of \u201cThe body of Jazz\u201d, a series of screenings of the great classics of cinema and jazz, which opened with a sold-out evening this past October 28th.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
