{"id":15167,"date":"2026-10-09T12:00:21","date_gmt":"2026-10-09T10:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ponderosa.it\/?p=15167"},"modified":"2026-10-08T11:41:46","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T09:41:46","slug":"the-second-life-of-madame-traore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ponderosa.it\/en\/the-second-life-of-madame-traore\/","title":{"rendered":"The Second Life of Madame Traor\u00e9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-path-to-node=\"5,0\"><strong>By Luca Testoni<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"0\">Having definitively put behind her the legal troubles of recent years\u2014starting with her detention across <strong>Belgium<\/strong>, <strong>France<\/strong>, and <strong>Italy<\/strong>, a direct result of a bitter custody battle with her former partner over their daughter\u2014<strong>Rokia Traor\u00e9<\/strong> has finally returned to her natural element: the stage.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"1\">Her goal now is to &#8220;reclaim&#8221; her crown as the queen of African singer-songwriter music.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\">The rebirth of the Malian singer-songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist\u2014who burst onto the international scene nearly three decades ago and boasts prestigious collaborations with the likes of <strong>Damon Albarn<\/strong> (Blur), <strong>John Paul Jones<\/strong> (Led Zeppelin), and Nobel laureate writer <strong>Toni Morrison<\/strong>\u2014includes a trio of concerts in <strong>Italy<\/strong>: on <strong>October 24th<\/strong> at the <strong>Teatro Puccini<\/strong> in <strong>Florence<\/strong>, on <strong>October 27th<\/strong> at <strong>Alcatraz<\/strong> in <strong>Milan<\/strong> as part of <strong>JAZZMI<\/strong>, and on <strong>October 28th<\/strong> at the <strong>Teatro Apollo<\/strong> in <strong>Lecce<\/strong> for <strong>Salento Jazz<\/strong>. Joining her on stage is an outstanding lineup: from the celebrated Malian guitarist <strong>Samba Diabat\u00e9<\/strong>, born into a family of griots like <strong>Traor\u00e9<\/strong>, to the imaginative French keyboardist <strong>Sylvain Rabbath<\/strong>, alongside an extremely reliable rhythm section featuring Malians <strong>Aristide Nebout<\/strong> on bass and <strong>Angelo Agbasse<\/strong> on drums.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">Recently seen performing live in <strong>Sardinia<\/strong> at the <strong>Dromos Festival<\/strong>, <strong>Rokia Traor\u00e9<\/strong> looked anything but rusty. On the contrary, she appeared exceptionally vibrant and eager to pick up right where she left off, staying true to her musical formula: blending traditional Mandingo music with modern sounds like jazz and rock. A concert that offers room to reflect on life\u2014which changes when you least expect it and often gives too much to some and too little to many\u2014while also inviting audiences to let go in liberating dance.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4\">&#8220;With music, I try to make dreams come true,&#8221; is her mission statement.
