By Luca Testoni

There is always a first time. And the first Italian concert for the American band Lake Street Dive coincides with a special live preview of JAZZMI 2026: the quintet led by the remarkably talented singer Rachael Price will perform on October 12 at Alcatraz in Milan.

""

The recipe of the band, which took its first steps over 22 years ago in Boston? Crafting pop songs infused with soul, funk, folk, jazz, R&B, and country—pop designed to put you in a good mood.

In other words, in the face of wars, the climate crisis, unstoppable technological growth, and social isolation, Lake Street Dive offers a sort of joyful rebellion to the tune of catchy songs.

The band’s philosophy is clearly set out in their eighth and latest album, “Good Together”, released a couple of years ago, whose title track earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album.

“There’s a lot to be angry about in the world right now, a lot of pain, anger, and division, but it’s not sustainable to live constantly in that anger—you need something else to keep going,” they explained. “Joy is a great way to lift yourself up, and we wanted to encourage everyone to stay mindful of that. In a way, this album is our way of saying, ‘Take your joy very seriously.’”

What better way to kick off JAZZMI 2026 than in the spirit of positive thinking?
