Ludovico Einaudi<\/strong> (Turin, 1955) is one of the most appreciated and famous pianists worldwide. He started his career as a classical composer but since the beginning, he tried to incorporate different styles and genres such as pop, rock, and world music, to create songs and soundtracks famous internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Einaudi<\/strong> started his musical career composing music for ballets, cinema, and theatre such as \u201cSul filo d\u2019Orfeo\u201d (1984), \u201cTime out\u201d (1988), \u201cThe wild man\u201d (1991), \u201cSalgari\u201d (1995), and different songs for orchestras and ensembles performed at Teatro alla Scala in Milan and at Lincoln Centre in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the publication of Stanze<\/em> (1992), a collection of songs for Cecilia Chailly\u2019s harp, Einaudi <\/strong>recorded and released his first solo album: Le Onde<\/em><\/strong> (1996). He took inspiration from Virginia Woolf\u2019s novels and captivated the international public. His success was confirmed by the following albums: Eden Roc<\/em> (1999), I giorni<\/em> (2001) and Diario Mali<\/em> (2003), recorded in collaboration with Ballak\u00e9 Sissoko<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the following years, Einaudi<\/strong> edited the soundtracks for numerous movies and tv series, among others the one for the remake of Dottor Zhivago<\/em> (2002), which was acclaimed during the New York Film Festival, and the one for the internationally renowned movie Intouchables (2011).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside these projects, Einaudi<\/strong> continued publishing numerous albums and performing in theatres all around the world, from La Scala to the Royal Albert Hall. With his albums, Una Mattina<\/em> (2004) and Divenire <\/em>(2006) Einaudi<\/strong> entered both classical and pop music charts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2009 the pianist published for Ponderosa Music&Arts<\/strong> the album Cloudland<\/em> <\/strong>and the following year the double live album The Royal Albert Hall Concert<\/em> (2010), recorded during Einaudi<\/strong>\u2019s concert at the Royal Albert Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2011 and 2012 he directed a visionary performance of the Orchestra during the Notte della Taranta, while in 2013 he published In a time lapse,<\/em> a reflection on the passing of time and \u00abthought as a suite or the chapters of a unique novel\u00bb in which Einaudi<\/strong> blended the piano with strings, percussions, and electronics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2014 Einaudi<\/strong> opened Piano City Milano<\/em><\/strong> with the concert Piano Africain<\/em> composed for piano, balafon, and marimba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the release of Elements<\/em><\/strong> (2015), the Italian pianist started an international tour which offered him the possibility to play his song \u201cElegy for the Arctic\u201d on a floating platform in the Arctic Ocean. The following year, Einaudi<\/strong> started the annual event Dieci Notti<\/em>: ten consecutive concerts at Teatro del Verme in Milan to \u00abgive back something to a city that has given me a lot\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March 2019 Einaudi<\/strong> started Seven Days Walking<\/em><\/strong>, conceived as a unique album but published monthly split into seven \u201cepisodes\u201d (Day One<\/em>, Day Two<\/em>, \u2026, until Day Seven<\/em>). Every episode is focused on some key themes that come back in a different way: seven variations around the same imaginary path or the same path traveled in seven different ways. In 2020, during the Covid-19 emergency, Einaudi<\/strong> published 12 Songs from Home<\/em><\/strong>, a collection of songs played at home, and subsequently Einaudi Undiscovered<\/em><\/strong>, a selection of unpublished tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the summer of 2021, Einaudi took his music back to nature, in a series of eleven concerts immersed in the breathtaking scenery of national parks, nature reserves, creeks, valleys, lakes and pristine mountain meadows, reachable only on foot, at dawn, at dusk and under starry skies. An invitation to merge the musical experience with the natural landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it was the experience of suspended time during the lockdown, “with the world outside quiet and silent”, that led to the new solo piano album, released in January 2022 and entitled “Underwater<\/strong>“, “a metaphor for fluidity without external interference”. A fresher and more immediate approach to music, in the flow of emotions, in an intimate conversation, face to face, with the piano”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
