Born in Russia in 1980, Regina Spektor<\/strong> is a songwriter and pianist naturalized American who established herself on the New York anti-folk scene thanks to her piano abilities and her unique, punk-shaded, voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regina <\/strong>independently released her first three albums !!:11 <\/em>(2001), Songs <\/em>(2002), and Soviet Kitsch <\/em>(2004) that earned her the possibility to open for The Strokes\u2019 tour in 2004.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still in 2004, she signed a contract with Sire Records with which she published Begin to Hope <\/strong>in 2006 that became her first real success for the songwriter due to the popularity reached by the single \u201cFidelity<\/strong>\u201d. Pitchfork recognized in the artist\u2019s intellect and her peculiar style the distinctive quality that made Begin to Hope <\/em>a fundamental album for Regina<\/strong>\u2019s career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2013 she published What We Saw from the Cheap Seats <\/em>which debuted third spot in the Billboard 200 chart. That same year she wrote \u201cYou\u2019ve Got Time<\/strong>\u201d which became the theme song of Orange Is the New Black<\/em>, a cult Netflix production, and that won Best Song Written for the Visual Media at the Grammy Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember Us to Life <\/em>was Regina<\/strong>\u2019s seventh album, which was released in 2017, and that Rolling Stone described as \u00aban album full of brilliant songwriting in which she exhibits the right balance between familiar and innovation\u00bb. Again in 2016, she participated in The Hamilton Mixtape<\/em>, an album of cover songs from the musical Hamilton<\/em> remixed by diverse artists and for which she and Ben Fold worked on \u201cDear Theodosia\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following years saw Regina Spektor<\/strong> dedicate herself to drafting and producing songs for tv programs, like The Romanoffs <\/em>(\u201cBirdsong\u201d) and Modern Love<\/em> (\u201cWalking Away\u201d). In 2019 she announced a series of five performances at Broadway\u2019s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
