Lous and the Yakuza <\/strong>is the stage name of Marie-Pierra Kakoma. <\/strong>She was born in Lubumbashi, Republic of Congo, in 1996 but was raised both in her native state and Brussels. She established herself on the music scene thanks to her cosmopolitan personality which gave strength to her music enabling it to splendidly tell her story of a young black woman in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

the stage name Lous and the Yakuza <\/strong>came from the anagram of \u201csoul\u201d, and Yakuza, the Japanese crime organization that Kakoma <\/strong>used to describe her group of collaborators. it was with this moniker that she began to perform in Brussels\u2019 clubs where she was noticed by Sony Music and offered her a record deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018 she contributed to the album of the electronic group BSSMT, Le Ridicule Ne Tue Pas<\/em>, but it was her debut single \u201cDilemme<\/strong>\u201d that launched her. Kakoma <\/strong>released her second single \u201cTout est gore\u201d and then \u201cSolo<\/strong>\u201d, the release of which was accompanied by the documentary Solo (Genesis) <\/em>that told not only the song\u2019s story but also the one on Lous <\/strong>herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three singles preceded the release of the artist\u2019s debut album, Gore<\/em><\/strong>, which was published during the fall of 2020. The album\u2019s title (which referred to the particular genre of horror films) described her life marked by sorrow and war that in time turned into artistic success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The same year, Kakoma <\/strong>released a remix of \u201cDilemme\u201d with rapper The Supreme and singer Mara Sattei which reached the first position of the Italian single charts and earned a platinum certification. In 2021 she released \u201cJe ne sais pas<\/strong>\u201d with Italian rapper Sfera Ebbasta <\/strong>and, shortly after, she participated in the 71st edition of the Sanremo Festival <\/em>performing a duet with Gaia <\/strong>on the notes of Luigi Tenco<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cMi sono innamorato di te\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
