Matthew Herbert<\/strong>, born in 1972, is an English famous musician and DJ. His peculiar style, shaped at the end of the Nineties, became very recognizable in the dance musical panorama because of Herbert<\/strong>\u2019s ability in transforming everyday sounds in eccentric and rhythmical materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Herbert <\/strong>started studying music at the age of four when he played the violin and the piano. However, thanks to his father\u2019s job as a sound engineer at BBC, Matthew<\/strong> started being curious about the relationship between electronics and music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After having attended the Drama course at the University of Exeter, Herbert<\/strong> added another piece to his education and interests thanks to the blend between music and acting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matthew<\/strong> started to publish his first albums using different alter egos: Wishmountain <\/em>(1998), for which he used the name of Wishmountain<\/strong>, The Music of Sound<\/em> (1996), becoming Doctor Rockit<\/strong> and Wishmountain Is Dead, Long Live Radio Boy<\/em> (1997) as Radio Boy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1998 he published Around the House<\/em><\/strong> as Herbert<\/strong>, in which he mixed dance rhythms and daily sounds, followed by Bodily Functions<\/em> (2001), distributed at an international level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2003 he released Goodbye Swingtime<\/em>, that however went under the name of The Matthew Herbert Big Band<\/strong> and that he recorded together with other sixteen jazz musicians such as saxophonists Dave O’Higgins e Nigel Hitchcock, pianist Phil Parnell, and bassist Dave Green. During live performances, the band was completed by Siciliano, Arto Lindsay<\/strong>, Jamie Lidell, and Mara Carlyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two years later, as Matthew Herbert<\/strong>, he published Plat du Jour<\/em> (2005) followed by Scale<\/em><\/strong> (2006) which became his most successful album, reaching the 20th<\/sup> position in Billboard\u2019s Electronic Album Chart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Herbert<\/strong> then recorded a musical trilogy composed by One One<\/em> (2010), One Club<\/em> (2010) e One Pig<\/em> (2011) and subsequently published The Shakes <\/em>(2015), whose tracks were released one per week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2016, Matthew<\/strong> performed in Italy at Triennale Milano Teatro during JAZZMI<\/strong>, and three years later released The State Between Us<\/em> (2019) again under the name of The Matthew Herbert Big Band<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
