Robert Glasper<\/strong>, born in Houston in 1978, was attracted since he was a child to piano, gospel music, jazz, and blues. All these influences can be retraced in his appreciated musical production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glasper<\/strong> moved to New York to attend New School University, while he started performing with Christian McBride, Kenny Garrett, Terence Blanchard, and Roy Hargrove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His first album was Mood, <\/em>published in 2003 by Blue Note Records, which was immediately followed by Canvas <\/em>(2005) and In My Element<\/em> (2007). Glasper <\/strong>however showed and defined his musical identity with Double-Booked<\/em><\/strong> (2009), which granted him success, and which blends acoustic sounds together with the more contemporary hip hop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the following years, Robert<\/strong> participated in numerous projects, for example, the foundation, in 2012, of Robert Glasper Experiment Band. <\/strong>With the group he published Black Radio<\/em> (2012) and Black Radio 2\u201d<\/em>: the two albums were a take on creative music and their goal was to get past the genres\u2019 boundaries and merge in one unique formula all of black music\u2019s contemporary waves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Black Radio<\/em> won one Grammy Award as Best R&B Album in 2013, while that same year Black Music 2\u201d<\/em> won one Grammy as Best R&B Performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2015, Glasper <\/strong>reunited his original trio – Robert Glasper Trio<\/strong> – and recorded Covered<\/em>. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Instrumental Jazz Album and was presented during Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Again in 2015, Glasper<\/strong> edited the soundtrack for the film Miles Ahead<\/em> by Don Cheadle, a biopic on the life of the famous jazzist Miles Davis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One year later, Robert Glasper<\/strong> joined again Robert Glasper Experiment Band <\/strong>and published ArtScience<\/em>. In 2017 the American jazzist performed in Italy during Monfortinjazz Festival<\/strong> in Monforte D\u2019alba (CN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
