Richard Galliano<\/strong> (Le Cannet, France, 1950), is a famous and award-winning jazz accordionist. Among his idols and mentors, important was the influence of Astor Piazzolla who brought him closer to tango\u2019s world, that however Galliano<\/strong> revolutionized completely thanks to a more contemporary awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Galliano<\/strong> started playing the accordion since he was a child, although he subsequently got closer to the trombone. He studied composition at Nizza\u2019s Academy and fell in love with Miles Davis\u2019s and Clifford Brown\u2019s jazz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1973 he moved to Paris where he became a member of Claude Nougaro\u2019s Orchestra, in which he stayed until 1976 while collaborating with famous jazzists like Joe Zawinul and Ron Carter. After the meeting with Astor Piazzolla, Galliano<\/strong> started his reinterpretation of traditional jazz music and in 1993 he signed with record label Dreyfus. Richard<\/strong> then published albums like Viaggio<\/em> (1993), Laurita<\/em> (1995), and New York Tango<\/em> (1996) and reached both a national and international success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2001, Galliano<\/strong> released Gallianissimo! The Best Of<\/em><\/strong>, a compilation that contains tracks of previous albums, and Face to Face<\/em>, an album featuring French pianist and singer Eddy Louiss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After three years of touring, in 2004 Richard <\/strong>published Blues sur Seine<\/em>, together with cellist Jean-Charles Capon, followed by Ruby, My Dear<\/em> (2005), in which he played together with the bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Clarence Penn in a musical formation called The New York Trio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Galliano<\/strong> came back as a soloist in his 2007 album Solo<\/em>, followed by Mare Nostru<\/em><\/strong> (2008) created in collaboration with Paolo Fresu, Jan Lundgren, Luz Negra and presenting itself as a profound dive in tango\u2019s music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following projects of Galliano <\/strong>were his own reinterpretations on classical music: Richard Galliano: Bach<\/em> (2010), Richard Galliano: Nino Rota<\/em> (2011), Richard Galliano: Antonio Vivaldi<\/em> (2013), and Richard Galliano: Mozart<\/em> (2016).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2016, Richard<\/strong> also published New Jazz Musette<\/em><\/strong> by Ponderosa Music & Art, <\/strong>in which he directed a musical quartet composed by Philippe Aerts (contrabass), Andr\u00e8 Ceccarelli (drums), and Sylvain Luc (guitar).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018 Galliano<\/strong> joined organist Thierry Escaich and published Aria<\/em>, while in 2019 he released Tributo a Michel Legrand<\/em> featuring Prague String Quartet. In August 2020, Richard Galliano<\/strong> performed in Italy during Monfortinjazz <\/strong>at Monforte d\u2019Alba (CN) taking his sophisticated jazz variations and blending them with melodic French style<\/p>\n\n\n\n
