Antonio Castrignan\u00f3<\/strong>, born in Galatina in 1977, is an author, composer, and musician and was interested in popular Salentinian music since his childhood. However, instead of being overwhelmed by the ancient tradition of this kind of music, Castrignan\u00f3 <\/strong>affirms himself as a total innovation in this panorama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Castrignan\u00f3<\/strong>, started his international career in the early 2000s after his participation in the musical formations of Canzoniere di Terra d\u2019Otranto<\/strong> and Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino<\/strong>. In 2003 he performed as solo tambourine during Notte della Taranta<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2006 Antonio<\/strong> created the soundtrack for the film Nuovomondo <\/em>by Emanuel Crialese, which granted the Italian musician a nomination for the Silver Ribbon as Best Original Score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2010, Antonio<\/strong> published his first solo album Mara la fatia<\/em><\/strong>, <\/em>a collection of extremely evocative tracks in which tradition and innovation blend perfectly. The album was a perfect portrait of Castrignan\u00f3<\/strong>‘s musical production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The musician performed on stages of extreme prestige, both at the national and international level, and became a reference point in the revival of Salentinian music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2012 Antonio<\/strong> participated in the creation of the soundtrack for the film Bellas Mariposas<\/em> by Salvatore Mereu, which won the Schermi di Qualit\u00e0 prize and FEDIC prize during Venice Film Festival that same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Castrignan\u00f3<\/strong> listed numerous collaborations with artists such as Ludovico Einaudi<\/strong>, Stewart Copeland<\/strong>, Ballak\u00e8 Sissoko<\/strong>, Caparezza<\/strong> and Giuliano Sangiorgi. <\/strong>The leader of Negramaro <\/strong>asked Antonio <\/strong>to perform asguest voice during their first concert at San Siro stadium in 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2014, Castrignan\u00f3 <\/strong>published for Ponderosa<\/strong> Music&Art<\/strong> his second solo album Fomenta<\/em><\/strong> in which the artist was able to create a perfect equilibrium between tradition and contemporary music. This stylistic choice was confirmed also in the following EP Aria Caddhipulina<\/em><\/strong>, which was published in 2018 for Ponderosa Music&Art<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019 Castrignan\u00f3<\/strong> collaborated with French choreographer Jaen Christophe Maillot and with the dance company \u201cLes Ballets de Monte Carlo\u201d to create the show Core Meu<\/em>, performed at Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. Subsequently, Antonio<\/strong> staged a concert in Italy, during the Art&LAb<\/em> Lu Mbroia<\/em> festival in Corigliano d\u2019Otranto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
