DAKOTA DAYS

Dakota Days - Dakota Days

Ponderosa Music & Art - May 2011

Berlin based Ronald Lippok (Tarwater, To Rococo Rot), with is unique hypnotic voice, and polyinstrumentalist Alberto Fabris (Blonde Redhead, Ludovico Einaudi) start Dakota Days 4 years ago after meeting each other during the German tour for Ludovico Einaudi's Divenire album.

In the space of 3 week-long session between 2008 and the beginning of 2009 at Fabris's lakeside studio nearby Varese, they record a dozen tracks that reflect varied and somehow contrasting atmospheres: psychedelia and progressive '70s rock, PIL, Fleetwood Mac and new wave blended together, becoming expression of a spontaneous and intimate sound with a high level of improvisation. A combination of experimentation and melodic intuitions.

Recorded live and mixed at Comerio, but completed at Calix Studio in Berlin,Dakota Days includes some re-workings, such as a version of Kylie Minogue's hit "Slow" and the theme tune of the TV series Love Boat (completely changed apart from the lyrics), and also four tracks featuring guitarist Andrea Rubuffetti on electric guitar, Lud bass and sitar.
